Fairway fun raises charity cash
GOLFERS teed off at Macdonald Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf to raise money for Hope House Children’s Hospices. Sixteen teams from across the country helped to raise almost £9,500 for the charity which runs children’s hospices in Oswestry and in Conwy.
Hope House Children’s Hospices currently cares for more than 300 terminally ill children and their families and relies almost entirely on donations to meet its £4million a year running costs.
“Everyone had a fantastic day on the greens and we are delighted with how much money we have raised thanks to people’s generosity,” said Sarah Elms, Area Fundraiser for Hope House Children’s Hospices.
“All the money raised will help us continue making a difference to the lives of terminally ill children and their families.”
As well as competing on the fairways the golfers also enjoyed breakfast and a three-course dinner at the Whitchurch hotel.
There was also an auction and raffle with prizes including a holiday in Portugal, Manchester United tickets, VIP tickets to the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth plus a car for the weekend, signed Lee Westwood golf gloves and signed Sandy Lyle golf balls.
“We are delighted that we could help such a wonderful cause and raise money for a local charity that does such inspiring work,” said Terence Southward, General Manager of Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf.
The next Hope House Children’s Hospices golf day at Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
