Unique cycle-cross race comes to Blists Hill Victorian Town Saturday evening, 9th July

A unique cycling event is coming to Blists Hill Victorian Town for the fourth time on the evening of Saturday, 9th July. The exciting Queen Victoria Cyclo-Cross event will see over 300 of the UK’s top riders speeding through the recreated Victorian streets on modern bikes.

Over 20 bands to perform at the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival; 9th and 10th July

The popular Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival will take place over the weekend of 9th and 10th July outdoors on The Green at the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. Now in its 13th year, the free family event showcases some of the finest brass bands from Shropshire and the surrounding counties; this year there will also be a special guest band from Germany giving the festival an international flavour. With some 20 bands performing, it’s the largest, non-competitive brass band festival in the country.


Tate Britain expert presents Elisabeth Frink talk at Cosford

The work of British sculptor Dame Elisabeth Frink CH DEB RA will be the focus of an art lecture taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford next month. The lecture entitled ‘Elisabeth Frink: The Expressive Power of Bronze' will be presented by guest speaker Frank Woodgate, a lecturer and guide at Tate Britain and will take place on Monday 4 July 2016.


Bring dad for free on Father’s Day to a Sherlock Holmes themed event at Blists Hill Victorian Town; Sunday 19th June

Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge, is inviting all dads to come as their guest on Sunday, 19th June when they can follow in Sherlock Holmes footsteps at a detective themed Father’s Day. Admission to the Victorian Town will be free for fathers, when accompanied by another full-paying adult.
