On 30th May 2006 Butterfly Conservation purchased the western half of Prees Heath Common near Whitchurch and started restoring the site following many years of neglect. Ten years on, the site is now thriving with wildlife.

To celebrate the successful launch of the Royal Air Force Museum’s ‘Names on a Plane’ fundraising campaign, museum bosses are giving members of the public the opportunity to win a Red Arrows prize package worth £1,000. The winner will see their name written on the wings of a world famous RAF Red Arrows Hawk Jet, that will fly throughout the 2017 display season!

Popular favorites on the food festival scene as well as brand new local producers are all on board for this year’s festival, which takes place on 23-24 July.

Ellesmere College will be holding the fifth National Art Exhibition and sale of works, with more than 80 professional artists and sculptors exhibiting over 300 pieces from Wednesday 1st June through to Sunday 5th June. The preview evening, which takes place on Wednesday 1st June 7.30 - 9.00pm, promises to be a fabulous evening.

The residents of Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire’s Ironbridge Gorge will be celebrating St George, the patron saint of England, over the weekend of 23rd and 24th April, when the streets will be decorated in patriotic red, white and blue. Join-in the patriotic parade, take part in a dragon hunt and see a re-enactment of the famous tale of St George and the Dragon.

For the fifteenth successful year, the popular Shropshire Scale Model Show is returning to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford next month. It’s one of the biggest modelling events in the country and shows no signs of slowing down, as a record 150 exhibitors and traders will be heading to Cosford for the one day event taking place on Sunday 3 April.
