Local poet and creative writing lecturer, James Sheard, has been appointed as the first ever Poet-In-Residence at the Dorothy Clive Garden - a charitable garden trust - for a period of 12 months.

There will be something spooky going on at a Shropshire visitor attraction this Halloween. The spooky Trip around the caves and woods of The Follies at Hawkstone Park in Weston-under-Redcastle, Shrewsbury, will get underway at 6.00pm on Wednesday 31st October.

It may still be summer but bookings are already being made to take a magical ride to Father Christmas’s grotto at a leading Shropshire venue. Hawkstone Park in Weston-under-Redcastle has already had 200 bookings for its annual Santa Safari despite many children still enjoying ice-creams rather than thinking about the festive season.

The Dorothy Clive Garden will be hosting the popular Plant Hunters’ Fair on Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August 2012. This special fund raising event, which is now in its fourth year, will feature fifteen specialist nurseries with a national standing as well as small local plant growers.

The Dorothy Clive Garden is to host a ‘Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ for both children and adults on Saturday 18th August 2012. The special fundraising event will start at 11am and continue until 5pm and all children who bring a Teddy Bear are admitted for free and will also receive a free plant to take home.

The Dorothy Clive Garden is to host an open-air production of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, a comedy by William Shakespeare performed by the Folksy Theatre Company, on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th August 2012 at 6.30pm.
