Inaugural Oswestry Truck Pull on November 1st 2014
10th October 2014
The inaugural Oswestry Truck Pull takes place on November 1st and it is hoped that it will become an annual event to draw greater visitor numbers into the town centre and improve footfall for local retailers.
Teams of six, in full Halloween regalia, from local clubs, companies and organisations will attempt to be the fastest to pull an 11.5 tonne truck along Church Street. A day of family-friendly fun is planned, with organisers inviting anyone interested in providing music, stalls and entertainment – or, should they feel brave enough to rise to the challenge, to enter a team - to get in touch.
Alongside promoting tourism, it is hoped that the event will help to raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospice and other good causes.
Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre which, alongside Crossfit Oswestry’s Rob Walker, Community Engagement Officer Steve White and TG Griffiths, is helping to organising the event, said “The Truck Pull is already creating great excitement in the town. We hope to help to bring more visitors into Oswestry to enjoy everything our town has to offer. We’d be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to be involved – all are welcome, we’re aiming for this to be a truly collaborative, community event to be enjoyed by people of all ages.”
